The school welcomes and encourages all co-operation with parents/carers, young people and wider agencies. We strive to promote a positive partnership with the school which will not only develop the welfare of the students but also of the community.

At Yr Wyddfid we develop and maintain a whole service behaviour strategy that is designed to give all students the very best chance to engage with education. This supportive strategy enables young people to develop new personal skills and overcome a wide variety of barriers to learning. This strategy is supported by Conwy Education Services, community, parents, teachers, wider agencies, pupils and management, based on shared values.

The school endeavours to create an environment which encourages good behaviour through positive recognition and by providing a range of rewards for pupils of all ages and abilities.

  • To define acceptable standards of behaviour and establish an agreed code of conduct.

  • To encourage consistency of response to both positive and negative behaviour.
(To have in place a hierarchy of sanctions to combat innaproppriate behaviour)

  • To implement individual planning for all students including strategies to support the difficulties associated with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Speech and Language Difficulties, Attachment Disorders and other cognitive/mental health conditions.

  • To teach, through the school curriculum, values and attitudes as well as knowledge and vocational skills.

  • To promote self-esteem, self-discipline and positive relationships.
(To encourage pupils to respect themselves, other people and property)
