Infant pupils link up with Ysgol Gwaenynog, Denbigh.

On Monday June 20th the infants visited Ysgol Gwaenynog.
During the day both schools walked up to Denbigh Castle - this was the start of work on 'exploring contrasting areas'. We now look forward to Ysgol Gwaenynog's visit to us.

Scotland

Since 1996 Mrs Bayliff and Mrs Pugh have taken Year 6 up to Stirling, Scotland for 5 days in the Easter holidays, but this year we are going in the Summer.

This year we are going to Summerlee Heritage Park Industrial museum with lots to see and do. Ride on a tram, tour a reconstructed coal mine and miners' cottages, see the working machinery from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Steam engines, traction engines, saw mill and iron works.

We are going to climb the 246 steps up the William Wallace (CLICK HERE) Monument but the view at the top is worth it! Completed in 1869 after eight years' construction, the 220 feet high Wallace Monument sits prominently on the Abbey Craig two miles north of the town of Stirling itself. It was from this prominent hilltop in 1297 that William Wallace watched the English army approach across Stirling Bridge before leading the Scots into the battle of the same name: and victory. A fitting, and striking, location for the national monument to a national hero.

The Crannog is an Iron Age home that has been rebuilt on stilts on Loch Tay. Every year we go to the glass factory Caithness Glass where people make paperweights and vases and we are also going to visit Stirling old town Jail.

We are going to go swimming in the in the Time Capsule. We will stay in the Stirling Youth Hostel. By Caitlin
